What Are You Talking About?
 (Lyrics written April, 2013)

Verse 1:      Well there’s talkers talking everywhere
                  With loud or subtle voices
Some say, “Burn out, or fade away!”
Thank God there are more choices
                  Some talk about the ladies
And perks that come with fame
                  Some brag about their money
Tellin’ how to play the game

Chorus:       I take note of all I’m hearing
What to keep, what to throw out
What’s no good, and what’s endearing
                  What are you talking about?

Verse 2:      Sometimes we speak too quickly
                  Sometimes we wait too long
                  Some folks are speakin’ sickly
                  Others are speakin’ strong
Gotta think before the lips move
Build up and not tear down
Give words of love to others
                  There’s enough hate around

I take note of all I’m hearing
What to keep, what to throw out
What’s no good, and what’s endearing
                  What are you talking about?

Bridge:        The mouth speaks what the heart holds dear
And makes the souls of speakers clear
The mouth speaks what the heart holds dear
So listen close, if your ears can hear!

Verse 3:      The little things you and I say
Take flight on wings of birds
And one day all must answer
                  For all our idle words
So when you feel like talking lots
Might pause to catch your breath
To make sure you’re not flinging
                  Firebrands and death

I take note of all I’m hearing
What to keep, what to throw out
What’s no good, and what’s endearing
                  What are you talking about?
