It May Be Time
(Lyrics written 2013)

Oh I wish I hadn’t let myself build up imagined walls
Wish I’d played fewer covers and some more originals
Wish I had faith to move a mountain, belief pure and complete
But I still face some days when I can barely move my feet

It may be time to move on, for my hand is on the plow
To stop hoping there’s a better time than time I have right now
It may be time to stand strong, if I plan to stand at all
And to get right into the light before the shadows fall

Wish I’d been a better advocate, wish I’d raised a louder voice
Sometimes I know I would’ve quit if there had been a choice
I’ll try to do my best next time, I’ll try to see things through
Can a man made of what makes me truly hope to be found true?

It may be time to move on, for my hand is on the plow
To stop hoping there’s a better time than time I have right now
It may be time to stand up, ‘cause the bell is soon to ring
To just do something, ‘stead of second-guessing everything

How I wish the things that matter mattered even more to me
I detect I’m sorely lacking a real sense of urgency
And I plan to show the world one day I’m made of more than talk
That’s what the world expects from those who claim to stand on rock

It may be time to move on, for my hand is on the plow
To stop hoping there’s a better time than time I have right now
It may be time to stand straight, because bending’s getting old
It’s wearing on my back, and even more upon my soul

It may be time that tricks me into forgetting the score
Time has a way of making me believe there’s always more
